Matt Megrue and The Key Problems cover "Dakota" by The Stereophonics
"Dakota" is one of my all-time favorite songs by The Stereophonics. I can't imagine a more perfect song. So, during the Quarantine of 2020, I called up my buddies: Brendangerous (bass), Seanarchist (keys) and Trentin Quarantino (guitar) to see if they would be down to track a version of this amazing Stereophonics song. They, obviously, obliged.

Also, I would like to make mention that: while not making an appearance in the video as a member of The Key Problems, Kyle Polk (of Unisphere Recordings) was very much a key (pun intended) contributor, tracking drums and delivering a fantastic performance of the song.
--- ABOUT SHITSVILLE USA SESSIONS ---
One of my goals for 2022 is to finish some of the things I started while quarantined in 2020. Here is one such project: The Shitsville USA Sessions.
Shitsville USA is my recording studio and, at one point, was based in Charleston, South Carolina. These days, Shitsville USA is less of a physical space and more of a bag of recording gear that I tote with me wherever I go so that I can continue to record, wherever it is that I may be.
Enjoi,
Matt
Matt Megrue & The Key Problems cover William Prince's "Wasted"
Wasted is a song by William Prince that I first heard on NPR All Songs Considered and it grabbed me immediately. I began recording this version of the song in quarantine while still living in Charleston but finally finished in The Spring of 2022 on a balcony in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

So if you haven't heard this song before, I hope you enjoy. If you have, I hope I did it justice. It is one of those songs that I didn't write, but truly wish I had.
'til next time,
Matt

DANCING IN THE DARK
Dancing in the Dark is a song that I have known all my life. I've heard it and seen the video countless times, but while in quarantine I came across a version of the song featuring Bruce on just an acoustic guitar and it hit different. It felt more desperate, more real. Don't get me wrong, the version of Born in The USA is great, but I never really "heard" it, until hearing it done solo, acoustic.
Nobody does it better than The Boss (obviously), but I wanted to celebrate my love for the song and the Born in The USA record...So I got together with my friends in The Key Problems (Brendangerous on bass and SeAnarchist on keys) and we recorded a version of the song while in quarantine. I'll be continuing to work on the next record and hope to see/meet you out at a show sometime soon...
'til then, enjoy,
Matt
